Don’t you wish that life was that easy? A sign that read “start here” would be a most welcome addition to so many new adventures; a new job, relationship, or decision. Every new little tech gadget I get seems to have a simple quick start guide, but somehow I missed my life’s quick start guide (maybe the mailman kept it?).

I, Andy, have been a way for a few weeks now; Hawai’i to be specific. Exploring, writing, photographing the beauty of the islands. And many times I’ve heard “I want to be you for the day!” or “I want your life!”

What is someone saying when they type this? It is often tongue-in-cheek mostly. Yet we all have done this with someone. It’s one reason there are celebrities.

I recently heard a story about a photographer who was invited onto the boat of a major rap artist to document a week long trip. The photographer was asked what they wanted to eat and asked for a menu to pick from. No, they were told, they could ask for anything. Anything they could possibly want would be on the yacht.

Do you want to live that life? Which one? The photographer? The rap artist with unlimited resources?

But why?

When we say “I want your life”, what do we really want? Money? Why? Because we are not financially secure right now? Because of greed? Because of wanting to provide for a family?

Do we want more travel? Why? Because we love the open road or new cultures? Because we are afraid to do it ourselves but really have a desire to go?

And so, we start here.

What we aim to do with this site is invite you on the adventure that is your life. Because when you are intentional about seeking it out, and answering the question of WHY for you, you will stop seeking to be that other person and fully become who you are.

Your life. Not someone else’s.

Your journey that will take you to amazing places that only you can get to. Loving your spouse and being there for them the way no one else can. Raising your kids and seeing their first this or that. Traveling to the ends of the
earth and meeting people of various cultures. I don’t know what it is but I know only you can do it.

My job is to help you get there. That’s part of my life.

In fact, it’s part of our life. My wife, Jessica, and I are in this together.

But you really don’t want my life. You want your own life – filled with adventure. Filled to the brim with beauty, great relationships, and reached goals.

‘On what’ you ask? The beautiful journey of life!

“But I’m already on it!” We know. So are we.

But it seems that almost daily we forget it. And at the end of the night, we look back at the minutes we have used up and realize they are some of but a very few we will ever get.

And so we want to start being intentional. Being preset. Being better at seeing moments and opportunities that are coming up on a daily basis.

Moments with our families. Moments of joy, and some of sorry. Opportunities that carry us off to the ends of the globe, and to the deepest part of a friends heart when we are present enough to really listen.

We don’t have it all figured out. That’s not why we are here.

We are here because we’ve made a lot of mistakes, we’ve let a lot of our lives pass by without paying attention. And we are determined to claim the time we have left.

This life isn’t always perfect either, we aren’t here promising that. What we are looking to do is try to see and work toward a more beautiful life in the short days we have; a more beautiful life for us and for those around us (and those around them, etc).

We are seeking the beauty and the brevity.

And often we are comparing ourselves to others curated life. Jessica and I have facebooked a fight or two, but only when it was funny and cute. Not when we got mad at each other, stormed out of the room, and later had to come back in and apologize for the way we were acting (we’ve both been there if you’re wondering).

So let’s be honest on this site about some of those things. Everyone has ups and downs. struggles and issues. Embracing caring for those, and accepting some, makes life more beautiful

Here the thing.

My life isn’t just happening to me. Im participating in it. I’m trying to cultivate more of what I want, what I care about, what I desire. And less of what takes away from the beauty (some of those are internal, some external).

Often, not always, but often the people with the “interesting” lives have worked hard to get there. Have spent the years in preparing many aspects of their lives to be where they are. (Give examples).

Are you willing to put the work in to enjoy your life more? If so, awesome. If not, then you might not get much out of his site except envy for those doing the work.

How do we do that?

That’s what this site is dedicated to.

It starts by wanting your life. I want you to want your life.

Everything from there because little steps to increase the beauty, the adventure, and the opportunities that await you and only you.

And when you live that life, you will start to encourage others to do the same.

People will maybe say one day to you, I want your life. And from there you tell them the same thing I’m telling you.
